Arvia Projects is now a family-run community art project rooted in Cypress Park, Los Angeles, with a studio located in Downtown LA. We host art shows, workshops, and gatherings with neighbors and friends.
Arvia is the home and starting place of an ongoing mural project that began in the alley behind the property. The mosaic mural has expanded to long portions of the alley, featuring collaborations from visiting artists, community groups, and neighbors. The mural project has expanded beyond the alley to various locations in Cypress Park such as local businesses, parks, and street spots.
The Arvia property has been in Andrés's family since the 1970s. When his abuelita passed and the property faced sale, Andrés and Claire worked with LA Más, a Cypress Park-based non-profit, to purchase it and preserve it as affordable housing rather than see tenants displaced. The property is now community housing, home to 13 residents, with Andrés and Claire continuing to live on-site and help steward the space alongside their neighbors.
Beyond Cypress Park, Arvia maintains a studio in Downtown Los Angeles. This offsite location serves as a flexible extension of Arvia and is primarily used as a studio for Andrés and other artists. Arvia shares the front gallery/workshop space with the local non-profit Drawing Together.
